Moto GP "New Generation"

This year we will see a brand new class of Moto GP bikes on the track, with the new regulations having defined as maximum capacity the 1000 κ.εκ.
As the manufacturers have started from last year the evolution of motorcycles, the tests before the start of the league will be quite crucial for them, so they can put the finishing touches on it 2012. Teams and riders will need to make the most of the three days available to them, starting with this on 31 January, with 2 February, in Sepang. The main factory teams have retained their rider line-up, with Casey Stoner defending his world title alongside his Repsol Honda teammate, Dani Pedrosa, the Yamaha Factory team once again represented by Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies and Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden working hard with the Ducati team to promote the Italian colors to the Moto GP pioneers.
 In the off-season we also had some big jumps, including those of Andrea Dovizioso who will make his Yamaha debut with the Tech3 team alongside Cal Crutchlow, and Alvaro Bautista who will help Honda Gresini in this year's effort. Hector Barbera will be the lone rider of the Pramac Racing Team this year, while Karel Abraham will continue his career with the Cardion AB Racing Team. Colin Edwards and Randy de Puniet "ranked" in the Forward Racing and Aspar camps respectively, where they will ride the CRT spec bikes. Along with CRT's new entries, the Moto GP grid will consist of 21 riders, giving newcomers Danilo Petrucci, Ivan Silva, Michele Pirro and Yonny Hernandez a chance to shine in the big division. Under these conditions (CRT) Antony West will also return to Moto GP, Aleix Espargaro as James Ellison. It is also worth noting the participation of last year's world champion in Moto2, Stefan Bradl, who will ride for LCR Honda.
Over the next two months we will also have riders from the lower classes at the Valencia and Jerez circuits testing the Moto2 and Moto3 bikes. The Moto2 class promises to be, so fun and unpredictable, like never before, with favorite riders like Marc Marquez, Andrea Iannone and Scott Redding face their champion 125, Nico Terol and the second ranked Johann Zarco. Along with all of them, the first Moto2 champion (2010), Tony Elias, will be back to pay off, after his completely failed year in Moto GP last year.
The upcoming tests will be particularly important for the participants of the Moto3 category, as their new four-stroke motorcycles 250 Mr. from. they replace the old 125 two-strokes… Maverick Vinales, Sandro Cortese and Hector Faubel look set to thrive on the brand new machines.

THE Checha is testing her Desmo of Rossi
A few days ago, the Ducati test team, managed by the technical director, Filippo Preziosi, completed a three-day test at the Spanish circuit of Jerez, with Carlos Checa and Franco Battaini. The two riders completed a leg in the GP12, which will later be ridden by the team's official riders, Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden. During these three days, in which the weather conditions were cold, but fortunately dry, the program went off without a hitch and all the necessary investigations were done to start the winter testing in Malaysia. Very little information has been leaked to the press, with Carlos Checa simply declaring (on Twitter) that everything went very well and that he is completely satisfied.

Karel Abraham: The new GP12 is powerful and fast
After the tests done by Checa – Battaini in Jerez, Ducati Corse may not be saying much about the new Ducati Desmosedici GP12, but this did not stop Karel Abraham from "witnessing" a few details about the new Italian ati. The Czech rider will ride a stronger and faster bike this year in the Moto GP class. The new Ducati GP12 is powered by a four-stroke, four-cylinder engine, 1000 Mr. cm., has 250 horsepower, while its maximum speed is 360 km/h! This year's model has an aluminum deltabox frame that replaces last year's carbon fiber frame. Cardion AB Motoracing's personnel manager, Marco Grana, having recently returned from the Bologna factory, he explained: “At first glance the bike may look similar to last year's model, but under the fairing is a cluster of significant changes.”

End of an era for public transport companies

According to all indications, the leadership of the Ministry of Transport is oriented towards the closure of all public KTEOs due to their poor and deficient operation.
Next June, the deadline given to the public Vehicle Technical Control Centers for their mandatory certification according to ISO and according to the information so far expires, the leadership of the Ministry of Transport is not going to give a new extension, a tactic that has been followed in recent years. Essentially aiming at de-addiction from deficit activities, the Ministry of Transport is expected not to extend the life of the public KTEOs whose number amounts to 59, as they are already in operation 130 private KTEOs.
With the percentage of citizens who are not in a hurry to pass their vehicle through a technical inspection now amounting to 50%, the deficient infrastructures, the lack of a computerized system and the inability to connect them online with the Ministry of Transport, mathematically lead the public KTEOs to closure. The aforementioned shortcomings maintain the absence of a substantial and timely recording of vehicles that pass or escape the Technical Inspection, a fact that has led to and maintains the high levels of abstinence we mentioned above. Despite the contractual obligation, public KTEOs do not have the necessary certification from the National Accreditation System (ESYD), almost all of them.
From the 2003 until today, The Department of Transport has given successive extensions, however, this tactic seems to be abandoned now. According to the information that has seen the light of day, the vehicles that escape the Technical Control in our country amount to 2,5 from. (on a nationwide level) as a result of which the missing public revenues reach 310 from. euro.

The first images of the new Aprilia Caponord

The first unofficial photos of the new Italian mega on-off are now a fact! Strikingly reminiscent of the flagship RSV4, the new Caponord is expected to be produced in two versions.
The photos you see were taken during the Piaggio Group's annual dealer conference, in Monte Carlo, from the Italian magazine Motociclismo.
The model you see is the more asphalt version of the new Caponord and has cast aluminum wheels 17 inches. According to the Motociclismo website (Motociclismo.it), a "dump" model will also follow, for the most adventurous riders. This will carry spoked wheels with the diameter of the front not exceeding, in any case, them 19 inches. So two versions, with one facing the asphalt and the other playing the role of the all-round model for the new "Capo" in an attempt by the Italian company to satisfy as many riders as possible.
From these first pictures you could tell that the new Caponord is based entirely on the Dorsoduro 1200. End, στα ηλεκτρονικά συστήματα του νέου Caponord αναμένεται να δούμε τόσο τις τρεις χαρτογραφήσεις για τον ψεκασμό του δικύλινδρου κινητήρα των 130 horses, όσο φυσικά και το σύστημα ελέγχου πρόσφυσης του πίσω τροχού.

«e-Solex»: The fastest electric in the world!

Strange as it may seem to you, the electric eSolex holds the world speed record in its class which it achieved last year at the Bonneville Salt Flats in the USA.
Creating playgrounds for use by children with mobility problems and ensuring their access to all municipal structures and schools, in the hands of four French motorcyclists (by Gilles Pujol, Franck Figuls, Yann Bruneau και Jean Caillou), the small electric bike from Solex, developed average hourly speed 32 km / h (!) and won the world record in his category.
How did this happen?, you will tell us. The reason this was possible is simple and easily explains how such a slow two-wheeler is included among the fastest motorcycles in the world. Very simply, this was the first time a speed record was attempted, at the famous Bonneville Speedway, with a mass-produced electric bike that has not received any conversion at all! Before that, the world speed record for the class stood at…0.
Surely the performance of the French and e-Solex will be beaten this year without much effort from any other crew. However Gilles Pujol, Franck Figuls, Yann Bruneau and Jean Caillou can boast that they were the first to try it and the first to enter the record book in this event, on the saddle of an e-Solex.

Electric Superbike by students

Two students of the American University of Purdue, they presented an electric Superbike, with a top speed approaching the 200 km/h and with an impressive autonomy.
It seems that electric motorcycles will have their due in 2012, since there are already enough fresh proposals in high-performance motorcycles, with electricity. From the big companies in the field, Brammo and Zero definitely stand out, as both have presented models with high performance, but also satisfactory autonomy.
Nevertheless, until we see these motorcycles stealing sales from their petrol counterparts, we will have to wait a little longer. But beyond the big companies, the individual proposals made by independent engineers are also of particular interest, or even… students. So, while a few days ago, we had presented the electric streetfighter Brutus 2, now two students of the American Purdue University have released their own proposal for an electric Superbike. Naturally, due to scarcity of financial resources, the students did not build their motorcycle from scratch, but they "borrowed" a Yamaha YZF 600R, which they converted to electric.


Sean Kleinschmidt and Jim Danielson have a history with electric vehicles, since the 2009 they had converted a Porsche 924S into an electric one – with lukewarm performance though, since they had used a lead acid battery and motor from a forklift. Alongside, the two founded the 2010 along with a friend the "Purdue Electric Vehicle Club".
But back to their attempt at an electric Superbike, after they bought the YZF 600R cheaply (the box was damaged), they stripped it of its gearbox and engine, and proceeded to replace them with a powerful electric motor. Friends were lucky, as Kleinschmidt did his internship at Tesla Motors (electric super-cars), so he managed to get a sponsorship 1.512 lithium ion batteries, to make a 10.6kWh/117V battery. The 2 students also collaborated with Delphi and AllCell Technologies, with the latter donating PCM materials (Phase Changing Material), that surround the batteries and keep the temperature low, so as not to affect battery life. And when the electric YZF 600R was prepared, its technical characteristics were more than impressive. Horsepower 100 horses, top speed 193km/h, and autonomy that exceeds 160 kilometers!

Νέα Harley-Davidson Softail Slim

Μια νέα έκδοση για τη Softail παρουσίασε η Harley-Davidson. Ονομάζεται Slim και αποτελεί ουσιαστικά μια ανανεωμένη αισθητικά Softail, στερημένη από καθετί περιττό.
Οι μικρές αλλαγές, στις οποίες υποβλήθηκε η μοτοσικλέτα, για χάρη της νέας έκδοσης, της χαρίζουν μια εμφάνιση περισσότερο ρετρό και old school παρά custom. Σε αυτό έχει συμβάλλει, including, η αφαίρεση των χρωμιωμένων μερών και άλλες μικρές αλλαγές που θα δελεάσουν όλους όσους επιθυμούν μια επιστροφή στα βασικά.
Σύμφωνα με την Harley-Davidson, αν πάρεις μια Softail και τη «γδύσεις» μέχρι να φτάσεις στα απολύτως απαραίτητα, τότε έχεις μια Slim. Σκοπός της εταιρείας, σύμφωνα με τον Υπεύθυνο του Τμήματος Σχεδιασμού, Casey Ketterhagen, ήταν να επιστρέψει η προσοχή μας στο βασικότερο χαρακτηριστικό της μοτοσικλέτας: τον κινητήρα. For this reason, η Softail Slim διαθέτει στενότερο πίσω ελαστικό και κοντύτερο φτερό, ώστε η προσοχή μας να επανέλθει εκεί που πρέπει. Additional, υπάρχει ένα κενό ανάμεσα στη σέλα και το ρεζερβουάρ, ώστε ο αναβάτης να μπορεί να βλέπει τον κινητήρα!
Με λίγα λόγια, η Harley-Davidson και οι σχεδιαστές της μετέφεραν την προσοχή μας από το (ομολογουμένως εντυπωσιακό στις μέχρι τώρα Softail) πίσω μέρος στο μπροστινό, εκεί που δεσπόζει ο κινητήρας. Αρκετά ακόμη χαρακτηριστικά των υπόλοιπων Softail απουσιάζουν εδώ, στο πλαίσιο της ίδιας λογικής, με αποτέλεσμα να βλέπουμε ένα μοντέλο με μόνο τα απολύτως απαραίτητα, όσον αφορά στην αισθητική.
