“The 2013 it was a particularly competitive and difficult year. Having set a record market share the 2012, we were to become worthy of a very important "inheritance". That we managed to increase this percentage further, in the 2,5%, which is one of the largest enjoyed by the brand worldwide, it indicates a lot! In fact, not only did we increase our rates but also the absolute number of cars we registered, which also proves the rapidly growing appreciation of the brand, from the Greeks consumers.
Most, we have a complete range, very fresh and recently renewed models and soon we will have the new generation of Drive-E engines and automatic transmissions on Greek roads, with impressive power and consumption figures. Volvo is in perhaps the best phase of its modern history and we are very optimistic for even better results in 2014.".

Volvo is preparing a compact SUV
The compact premium SUV sub-segment is on fire, and Volvo doesn't intend to stay out of the game for much longer., as he prepares the smallest member of the XC "family"., the XC30.
Premium downsizing
When the 2004 BMW launched the X3, the "descent" of premium companies into smaller and smaller categories of leisure vehicles began, something that continued with the X1. "Premium downsizing" is not only about SUVs, but in all categories of vehicles, as prestigious companies have no reason not to expand their buying public. Even Porsche, which surprised many when it presented the Cayenne, it was such a success that it is now feverishly preparing a smaller model, the Cajun. The Audi, also, started from Q7, continue with Q5, followed by the Q3 and has the even smaller Q1 in the works.
The XC30 and the competition
The same applies to Volvo, which after the large XC90 and XC70 and the medium XC60, is preparing their small and medium-sized "little brother"., the XC30. The car will compete with the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Range Rover Evoque, but also the Mercedes GLC and Saab 9-4X, when they go into production.
The information so far
The news has been circulating for some time that the Swedish brand is preparing the five-door version of the C30. The logic, Well, says that this model will be relied upon by the Volvo people to build its crossover variant, the XC30. The first data indicate that its total length will be at 4.350 mm., while it is said that it will have both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions. All this is not just rumours, as the CEO of Volvo himself, Mr. Stefan Jacoby, told the British press that the development of the Volvo XC30 is now a priority for the company. It is still too early to know the detailed technical data of the car, but the relevant sources state that from a technical point of view it will be based on the C30, while in terms of design it will also carry elements from the larger XC60.
When do we expect it?;
In each case, the final form of the car is not expected to be seen before its second half 2013. Until then, you are one of the lucky ones, as we exclusively have espionage at our disposal, digitally edited photo of the car.

Volvo: The pedestrian airbag
The Swedish brand made another world first, which applied to the new V40 model the pedestrian protection technology through a… external airbag.
In order to mitigate the consequences if a collision with a pedestrian is unavoidable, the Volvo V40 is equipped with the world's first airbag for pedestrians- a security feature that has been fully developed very recently.
Its operation is as follows: Sensors in the front bumper record the extent of contact between the car and the pedestrian. The back of the hood (in front of the windshield) is raised thus reducing the angle of attack of the trunk towards the car, while at the same time the airbag is activated. The area of the airbag covers the raised hood area and below 1/3 of the windscreen – including the two front pillars (A pillars). The combination of the action of the raised hood and the airbag, especially helps to limit pedestrian injury from the vehicle.

Volvo XC60 plug-in hybrid…
Text by Dimitris Bali
However, the Swedish brand that innovates in many areas, will present in a few days at the Detroit International Auto Show, a prototype application – yet very close to becoming a production model – in an SUV body.
It will be the third brand, after Porsche which has a hybrid Cayenne, and BMW with the ActiveHybrid X6, which will have a hybrid SUV, as is the XC60, but this one will stand out because it will also charge from an outlet.
Innovation
The XC60 Plug-in Hybrid has three operating modes. In Pure mode the vehicle only moves electrically with a range of approx 45 km. In Hybrid mode which is also the basic function of the vehicle, the petrol engine and the electric motor work together to offer normal driving pleasure with autonomy 960 km. – in this mode the average consumption is just 2,3 liters of petrol per 100 km. and carbon dioxide emissions 53 gr / km.
Not in Power mode, the arrangement of the joint operation of the two engines is such that it catapults the performances. The four-cylinder petrol engine of the 280 hp with torque 380 Nm, cooperates with their electric motor 70 hp with 200 Nm of torque, giving acceleration 6,1 sec. στα 0-100 km / h!
Briefly…
Recyclable parts, new engine, lighter and 35% more economical. Without conventional starter and voltage alternator. With complete starter and generator (ISG) which offers extra 45 hp on acceleration, while charging the battery under braking. The petrol engine drives the front axle and the electric motor drives the rear (four wheel drive).
The torque distribution on the two axles is adjusted with a switch. The battery is also at the back 12 kWh. It is fully charged from a 220V outlet 3,5 by Dimitra Papanastassopoulou is published by Dioptra Publications. If it is empty, in motion it is charged by the generator, by pressing the Save switch.

The Swedes managed to take first place among European car manufacturers in terms of reducing carbon dioxide emissions for 2010. This is according to the sixth annual survey carried out by the European Federation for Transport and the Environment (European Federation for Transport and Environment, T&E).
On average, Europe's eight largest car manufacturers reduced their CO2 emissions 2010 in percentage 2 – to 6 %. Volvo did not exceed this average by much, achieving a reduction of CO2 by 9 %!
Analysis by the European Federation for Transport and the Environment shows that European car manufacturers have achieved a satisfactory reduction in CO2 emissions and average fuel consumption in new cars. Overall, carbon dioxide emissions from new cars sold in the EU. decreased by 3,7 % the 2010 and today the average for new cars sold in Europe is 140 grams per kilometer.
As for Volvo, the maximum in this performance in the new 1.6lt diesel engine (DRIVe version ) return 115 PS, which they placed across almost their entire range, except SUVs and the S80. Especially the C30s, S40 and V50 in version 1.6 DRIVe the CO2 emission is just at 99 g/km (zero road tax in Greece), while the S60 1.6 DRIVe is just around the corner 114 g/km.
