European Capital of Culture

European Capital of Culture for 2012 Maribor, Slovenia

Slovenia's Maribor and partner cities will host a host of events as part of the European Capital of Culture 2012 project, which is officially put on track for implementation, with great celebration, at 14 January.
The cities of Maribor, Murska Sobota, Slovenia Grandec, Velenie, Novo Mesto and Ptui will jointly organize a program, divided into four sections, which includes 412 designs.
The 'Terminal 12' section focuses on artistic events and the 'Keys to the City' section on urban regeneration.
Projects on environmental and social issues are included in the Urban Channels section and the One Click to Life section is about online events.
During the opening event, the inauguration of the cultural embassies of more than 20 participating countries and the House of Architecture.
The European Union Commissioner will attend the event, responsible for Culture, Androula Vassiliou.
On Sunday, 15 January, the Slovenian National Theater in Maribor will present the opera for the first time “Black Masks” by Slovenian composer Marij Kogoi directed by Janez Burger.
Maribor is the first city in Slovenia to be declared European Capital of Culture by 1985, when the title of the first European Capital of Culture was given to Athens.
Except for the Slovenian city, the title of European Capital of Culture goes to Guimaraes, Portugal this year, where a grand opening event will be held on 21 January.

Evergreen Opel…

The 1862, ο Adam Opel, δεν μπορούσε καν να φανταστεί ότι η εταιρία του θα γινόταν ένας από τους μεγαλύτερους κατασκευαστές αυτοκινήτων στην Ευρώπη. Χρησιμοποιώντας το εργαστήριο κλειδαριών του πατέρα του, στο Ρίσελχαϊμ της Γερμανίας, κατασκεύασε ραπτομηχανές και το 1886 bicycles, ενώ μέχρι τα μέσα της δεκαετίας του ?20, ήταν ο μεγαλύτερος παγκόσμιος κατασκευαστής. Αργότερα άρχισε να κατασκευάζει και μοτοσικλέτες και το 1899 cars, όντας η δεύτερη αρχαιότερη αυτοκινητοβιομηχανία στη Γερμανία μετά την Daimler-Benz.
ΧΡΟΝΙΕΣ ΣΤΑΘΜΟΙ
The 1902, η Opel παρουσιάζει το πατενταρισμένο Lutzmann με κινητήρα 10/12 hp, κι ακολουθούν το Doktorwagen (1909) και το Puppchen (1914). Στη δεκαετία του 1920 λανσάρει το Laubfrosch (tree frog) και το Rakete (rocket). The 1936 αρχίζει η ιστορία των συμπαγών μοντέλων: από το πρώτο Kadett, μέχρι το τωρινό Astra.
Εν συντομία…Ο Πόλεμος ανέστειλε τα πάντα. Μόλις τελείωσε, το γερμανικό οικονομικό θαύμα συνδέθηκε με αρκετά Opel: Olympia, Olympia Rekord, Rekord P1 και Kapitan, αλλά και τα ψυγεία σπιτιού Frigidaire. The 1962, ανοίγει δεύτερο εργοστάσιο στο Μπόχουμ, ενώ τη δεκαετία του ?60 κατασκευάζονται πολλά σπορ μοντέλα: Commodore, Manta και GT. The 1972 παράγεται για πρώτη φορά προσθιοκίνητο Kadett, and 1980 εμφανίζει πλήρη γκάμα με καταλύτες. Ακολουθούν πολλά συστήματα ασφάλειας και φθάνουμε στο σήμερα που είναι το ηλεκτροκίνητο Ampera (και με κινητήρα βενζίνης γι αυτονομία 500 km).

Liuzzi's future at HRT uncertain

Vitantonio Liuzzi, although he has a cooperation contract with Hispania Racing Team, it is not certain whether he will continue his racing career with the team, as he himself states.

This is because when the Italian decided to work with the team, HRT was headed by Jose Carabante and director Colin Kolles.

The team is now owned by Thesan Capital and Luis Perez-Sala replaced Kolles. In addition the team's empty cockpit is in demand as there are several drivers looking for an empty seat for it 2012, while HRT has already announced Pedro de la Rosa in one position for next season.

Liuzzi himself told Total Race: "I have a contract to be in next season's races with HRT, but the deal fell through with the previous owner, so my future in the team is uncertain".
