11the Dance Festival of the Greek Choreographers Association

The 11th Dance Festival of the Greek Choreographers Association, against the darkness of the times, will light up again this year...
the beginning of summer from 19 May until 18 June 2012!

Choreographers and dancers add color to gray Athens
They create little islands of pleasure in our hectic lives

In uncertain and uncertain days, Greek choreographers and dancers persist in their art, they invite us to small escape trips from the threatening everyday life and our anxieties, they suggest we meet them in theaters and museums and promise us some beauty and optimism amid the heavy clouds of crisis.

From the 19 May until 18 June, in six theaters in Athens, 63 dance groups will present their new works, mosaics of a large mural of the quests of modern dance in Greece and proof that dance people are still dreaming, to try and create horizons for themselves and for their place.

This year's festival opens in more venues than last year, collaborates with museums and institutions, highlights the final students of professional dance schools, welcomes Greek dance groups that create outside of Greece, presents works aimed at young and older children.

The "Independent Presents" present again this year with new creations, debuting choreographers and dancers, which do not have fixed groups, while in collaboration with the Greek section of the International Dance Council CID UNESCO, the Greek choreographers organize two evenings dedicated to the final students of the Greek higher dance schools, symbolic events, to highlight education and its importance and to reward persistence in hard work and methodical preparation.

 Three dance groups create works exclusively for children and invite them for two days to "tell" them colorful fairy tales with movement, while the Benaki Museum and the Visual Arts and Music Foundation B &M Theocharakis open their doors and support the efforts of the choreographers and their union, which despite insecurity about their future and lack of resources, they don't give up on their visions.

The Association of Greek Choreographers does not interfere in the choices of choreographers, but it gives the opportunity to all those who test their inspirations in contemporary dance to meet the public, ask him to appreciate their work and give them the ticket to their next step. Choreographers offer and present their works at the festival free of charge, expecting to reward viewers and their participation in the contemporary creative landscape.

With the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the cooperation of the Greek section of the International Dance Council CID UNESCO, of the Benaki Museum and the Visual Arts and Music Foundation B&M Theocharakis.

"If..." the new film by Christoforos Papakaliatis

If I had known you everything would have been different... If I could have put up with me it would have been better...

We haven't all wondered what our lives would be like if we met a great love;

We have not all thought about whether everything in our life happens by chance;

If every moment, every minute, every small decision could change our life;

The "If…" is a love story set in the Athens of today and with the central themes of "love" and "loneliness" which remain in our time two of the most important chapters in the life of every person.

A tale about relationships, starring two young people of today, Dimitris and Christina, and with narrators in this tale two of the most beloved heroes of an earlier era.

One generation gives the baton to the next, at a time when everything seems to be violently returning to that time.

A love story with obstacles and reversals caused not by third parties but by life itself.

A strong love that everyone struggles with in their own way to keep it at a time when everything around them is changing. He will survive;

A modern day love story, in one of the most erotic, timeless and beautiful areas of Athens. Plaka.
