We test the Volkswagen Polo 1.4L TDI 105PS BMT

A few months before the launch of the completely new Polo, we test its 5th generation with the most powerful 1400 hp diesel engine of the VW group. Wow…

The exclamation does not refer to its strict inside-out aesthetics or the rest of its conventional engineering. Not in his driving behavior but in the fact that in 1.165 we have kilos 250 Nm of torque in a range from 1.750 rpm up to 2.500 rpm from a 3 cylinder 1400 hp diesel engine. So you would think that in two seconds… we got rid of the 'phenomenon'’ – in terms of acceptance and commercial appreciation- Polo. Error.
Of course, since we have mentioned its design many times, let's remember once again the strict aesthetics but also the excellent distribution in the quality of the materials and the finish. The Polo is top in these areas and we honestly wonder when – for good- the new one is presented, how much more well-made it can be. But it is strict, very strict and the only imaginative element here is the…red body color.
Inside, the checkered seats can't make it look any newer than it is. And here the plastics are of high quality, we also have a couple of extra quality touches such as the chrome on the air ducts, or the leather and lacquer on the steering wheel. The overall picture is certainly severe, bordering on indifferent.
But the spaces are anything but indifferent. Especially the passengers have very good comfort in almost all dimensions, consequence of the classic almost cubed cabin approach, while the luggage space is good as well as those for small items, glasses or bottles.

AeroMobil flying car ready for orders

But whoever wants it, will have to pay 1,2 to 1,5 millions of euros, as revealed by the Slovak-based manufacturing company of the same name.
The first car plans are expected to be delivered to customers within it 2020.
The company – one of many preparing similar hybrid vehicles- plans to produce in the first phase up to 500 such flying vehicles, according to Reuters.
The two-seater AeroMobil, which has a teardrop shape and a hybrid engine, features both four wheels and two airplane wings, which fold, like an insect, on the sides of the vehicle in just three minutes. So, quickly converts from plane to car and vice versa.
Its radius of action on the road reaches the 100 kilometers and in the air the 750 kilometers, while its road speed also reaches the 100 kilometers.
But there are certain conditions to be the owner of such a medium. It should take off from an airport or other place with an airstrip (and not from the street outside his house, something that is illegal), while he should obviously have both a driver's and a pilot's license. Yet, the car-plane will be subject to the regulations governing both cars and airplanes (and will certainly be an ideal presumption of income for the tax authorities…).
For such vehicles to circulate, the fears of public authorities and public opinion on security issues should be allayed. The governments, which already have to regulate the use and operation of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) and driverless autonomous vehicles, now they will have an additional headache: the car shots.

Alonso causes!

It's not the first time he's done it, and it won't be the last, the question is why does Honda put up with it; Fernando Alonso did not make a career as a good boy. From his early years in F1 to today there are too many examples where he has been disrespectful as well as rude. That never did him any good, on the contrary, it created a lot of trouble for him.
BY TAKI POURNARAKI
I remember Sunday morning in Monza 2006, Alonso to say that the “F1 is no longer a sport”. The Spaniard believed that he had been unfairly punished 5 seats because Masha had closed the day before.
I remember a Thursday afternoon in Monaco, work is done and we are leaving the paddocks with the Alpha technicians. The Spaniard comes with his girlfriend at the time, later his wife, today his ex-husband to take his scooter. We smile, he doesn't reciprocate… he's got the stand stuck in the building's ventilation grill. He puts down the bags he's holding, he tries to release it he can't. I offer to help, we make it, the scene has been noticed by some photographers who are starting to take pictures. He's going to leave like a fool, he forgets his bags I shout, I give them, leaves without thanks…
This scene is indicative of Alonso's approach to things. There are thousands of other examples like what happened to 2007 at McLaren. They had the best car and Alonso instead of competing with Hamilton on the track, preferred Stepneygate. He leaves McLaren badly and returns to Renault. The 2008 first race in the history of Singapore Alonso wins with the help of Piquet. But he didn't know anything about it’ this…

Honda is investing in the Civic

The tenth generation of the Civic family benefits from the largest global development program for a model in Honda's history. The car has been designed to exceed European standards and expectations – to meet the demands of all global regions where the Civic will be sold.
Honda's European production plant, Honda UK Manufacturing (HUM), will become a global production hub for the tenth generation Civic hatchback. Honda has made an investment 200 million pounds in new technologies and production processes in preparation for the new model. This will be exported worldwide, even in the US. The investment is part of a long-term vision for the European plant in Honda's global operations.
The Civic is an important model for Honda in Europe and is a key contributor to its strong sales and production history in the region. For many European customers, the Civic is synonymous with the Honda brand. The new Civic hatchback continues this tradition and will play a key role in achieving Honda's sales targets on the European continent.
The HUM factory built its first engine on 1989 and his first car the 1992. It now includes two Vehicle Manufacturing Units and one Engine Manufacturing Facility. Other areas of the facility are reserved for test tracks, dynamic and static testing laboratories, but also administration and supply departments.

New VW Golf: opens the door of the house!

Η VW, the brand that loves the practicality and ease of use of all systems, he also thought of the stressed driver trying to get home after a long day.
The German brand's research showed that often the driver, wherever he is, must also manage the entrance to his home or office. Ringing the doorbell activates the sophisticated DoorBird system, which features in some versions the new VW Golf.

BMW M4 CS: Good news...

BMW's M4, soon acquires a stronger version with the two capital Latin CSs, which takes place below the GTS. This is the most powerful M4 in production, especially now that the GTS doesn't even exist for a sample. Deep bow to the blue and white propeller…
His GIANNI Tsirogiannis (gt@newsauto.gr)
The heart of the new CS is the 3-liter six-cylinder in-line twin-turbo gasoline engine that produces 460 horsepower and almost 61,0 kgm of torque to the rear wheels. Externally, you will distinguish the mighty CS, from the carbon hood, the iconic spoiler, the impressive rear diffuser, but also the enormous wheels (19 inches forward, 20 back).
The German brand talks about weight savings 32 kg compared to the M4, this was also helped by the interior with lighter seats and upholstery. On to the performance now, the 100 km/h from stop come to 3,9 sec, with the help of a seven-speed dual-clutch semi-automatic transmission. The top speed reaches the 280 km/h.
More in the coming year, when we will see her rolling her beastly wheels on the European roads or better on the tracks, where he breathes better and feels like a fish in his own water.
